For 15 years I ran a golf school for Japanese golfers who wanted to turn pro. The one thing they all struggled with was the green-side bunker shot. PGA Teaching pros tell their students to hit bunker shots with an open stance and open face. Unfortunately this method just doesn’t work for 90% of golfers—it seems counter intuitive. So I set out to come up with a better way to not only teach it, but also, I felt like there had to be a better design.

One day while playing a round, I hit a shot from the sand. As I was raking my divot, I saw how easily the rake flowed through the sand and I had a lightbulb moment: Would it be possible to create a wedge design that resembled a rake? I was excited to try.

After about 30 different prototypes, I decided that the one you see today, which features the new Sole Channel Technology® design, was the answer. And so the PROTOUCH GOLF COMPANY was created.

As an added bonus, our team of golf experts realized that the new Sole Channel Design actually made hitting bunker shots with greater ease possible.  Why?
